FAQ

Why do I need PrivatePackets.io?
  1. You're concerned about your privacy.

If you don't want websites, your ISP, or hackers snooping on your activities, then a VPN provides the protection you need. PrivatePackets.io encrypts your data while it's in transit, making it unreadable for third parties.

PrivatePackets.io also hides your IP address and location by giving you an anonymous IP. At PrivatePackets.io, your security is our top priority. We do not log your browsing activity.

  2. You need to access blocked content.

PrivatePackets.io lets you access blocked content. For example, Netflix recently announced that they would be blocking VPN and proxy support soon. Unlike our competitors, our services will never be blocked as we require one dedicated, personal VPN server per single user.

In addition if you live in a place where some sites or services are blocked, or if you are trying to access geo-blocked content, then you can use PrivatePackets.io to create a personal, dedicated server in a country of your choice and surf the web freely.

What do I get with my one-time purchase?

Each one-time PrivatePackets.io purchase includes a fully functional VPN server, on a dedicated Ubuntu 14.04 x64 server hosted by DigitalOcean. You get full root level access to this server. Outside installation of the VPN server setup we have no access to your server. If you have trouble with your server just click the rebuild link located in the email we send you and you can rebuild your server in minutes.

What devices and platforms do you support?

PrivatePackets.io has support for every popular and secure VPN protcol. This includes OpenVPN and L2TP/IPSec, SSL and SSTP. That level of VPN support covers all popular devices. We also provide setup guides for Windows, Mac OSX, Android and iOS.

What is deployed to my DigitalOcean account?

PrivatePackets.io has an extremely complex automated install that performs the setup and configuration of multiple VPN protocols. We deploy this to a $5 per month DigitalOcean droplet. The details of this droplet can be found here.

Can I use my server for other tasks?

The droplet that is created is yours and will run until you remove it from DigitalOcean. Since you have root access to the server you can use it for whatever you would like. There are no restrictions in place.

What do I do if I have connectivity trouble?

PrivatePackets.io supports all popular and safe VPN protocols. So if you have trouble with one protocol, we first suggest trying another protocol. No matter what platform your running, if L2TP/IPSec is not working we'd suggest trying the SoftEther VPN client as its nearly impossible to block on a firewall. Lastly we would suggest trying OpenVPN and then SSTP.

How do I pay for my deployment?

We rely on Stripe for all credit card processing. Your credit card is never stored in our system, it is sent directly to Stripe for processing.

How many devices can be connected to PrivatePackets.io simultaneously?

The account credentials sent to your email supports an unlimited number of connections.

Do you log my data?
